Internet Access
All our laptops include a 10/100 network card/port for access to broadband internet through a wire. Most have a 56k modem which you require to access the internet using the much slower "dial-up" internet access. If you require the later please check the description of the laptop. If it is not mentioned please contact us and we will help. We can supply a modem cable free of charge (on request).
Most laptops include an internal wireless card which fits inside the laptop and connects to the aerial integrated into the laptop screen. This card is not visible and does not use any PCMCIA slots. The standard card we supply is IEEE 802.11g (up to 54mps). Connection can be made to any wireless router/access point within a range of 35-100 metres (indoors) or 100-300 metres (outdoors).
Where a laptop does not include an internal wireless card and the laptop is suitable for broadband we offer the option of adding a PCMCIA wireless card. This card fits into any laptop PCMCIA slot. The standard card we supply is IEEE 802.11g (up to 54mps). Connection can be made to any wireless router/access point within a range of 35-100 metres (indoors) or 100-300 metres (outdoors). When this option is selected we always install and test the card before despatch. Installation instructions and software are provided if it ever needs to be reinstalled.
