Year 2011: Laptops overtake desktop PCs as dominant form of computer
Say goodbye to desktop PC’s because it is said that laptops will overtake the PC as the dominant form computer 2011, this is a report according to analysts IDC. Portable laptops will be more efficient and much quicker; they say the demand for bulky equipment will still grow slowly but at a declining rate. The laptop market is said to grow at a rate of 16.1% year-on-year until 2011 and of which compared to 3.8% for desktop PCs.
There are more than 82 million portable computers compared to 140 million desktop PCs which were shipped around the world in 2006 which means compared to the previous year means laptops that have been shipped have risen by 26.3%, desktop’s have only risen by about 2%. 80 percent of laptops have wireless capabilities and 88 percent of these users use wireless network at home.
